It’s been a few years since we shared an update like this, but we figured it was time to take a moment and reflect on how far we’ve come — and to share some news we’re incredibly proud of.
Over the past few years, Katherine Outback Experience has been recognised with a number of awards, both here in the Territory and on the national stage. While we’ve never done this work for the accolades, we’d be lying if we said it didn’t mean a lot to have our little show in Katherine recognised in this way.
Australian Tourism Awards
In 2024, we were blown away to receive Gold for Tourist Attractions at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards — our third time winning this national title, after taking out Gold in 2021 and 2023, and Silver in 2022.
It still feels surreal to be standing alongside some of the best tourism businesses in the country. We also received Bronze for Excellence in Accessible Tourism in 2023, which is something we’re really proud of — because every visitor deserves to feel welcome, comfortable and included.
NT Brolga Tourism Awards
Closer to home, we’ve had the honour of winning multiple Brolga Awards — the highest tourism accolade in the NT — including:
- 2024 Winner – Tourist Attractions
- 2024 Winner – Chair’s Choice Award
- 2023 Winner – Excellence in Accessible Tourism
- 2022 & 2021 Winner – Tourist Attractions
The Chair’s Choice Award in 2024 was a huge honour, recognising not just the experience we deliver, but also our commitment to the Territory tourism industry and community.
Why it means so much
It’s not about the trophies (though we’ll admit, the team loves seeing them in the office!). For us, these awards are a recognition of the journey we’ve been on — from performing music in the Katherine Holiday Park just to pay the bills, to building a show that’s welcomed thousands of visitors and shared a little slice of outback life with the world.
We couldn’t have done any of it without our amazing team. They’re the heart of the show, and these awards belong to them just as much as they do to us.
