If you’re aged between 10 and 17 years of age, from the Katherine and Big Rivers Region, and looking for a taste of what life on a on cattle station is like, join our School Holiday Program this September!
We’re all about celebrating the unique and vibrant life on outback cattle stations. Through hands-on interactions with the horses and working dogs, we provide an immersive experience that’s as educational as it is exciting.Â
It’s also free thanks to the generous support of the Department of Chief Minister and the Territory Families (NT Government). So, saddle up and get ready for a holiday program like no other!
A taste of the fun ahead!
Horse Handling & Care
You’ll learn the ropes of horse care, from grooming to picking up their hooves. Get up close and personal with these magnificent creatures as you connect with them on a whole new level. You’ll even have the opportunity to saddle up and lead the horses – an experience you’ll cherish forever.
Working Dog Training
Ever wondered how those talented working dogs help muster livestock? Wonder no more!
Our program includes training sessions where you’ll discover the secrets behind these skilled canines. You’ll get to be a part of the action as you learn to command and work alongside them.
Station Activities
Immerse yourself in the daily life of cattle stations as you engage in various station activities. From exploring the beautiful surroundings to gaining insights into station operations, there’s something for everyone. Who knows, you might even discover a hidden talent!

- Saturday 28 September 2024: 8:30-11:30am
- Monday 30 September 2024: 8:30-11:30am
- Participants: 10 to 17 years old and from the Katherine and Big Rivers Region. We will take a waitlist for younger students should the workshops not fill
- Footwear: Closed-in shoes are a must
- Safety First: Parents or guardians are required to complete the Digital Risk Waiver Form
- Sunsmart Attire: Protect yourself from the outback sun by wearing sunsmart attire
- What to pack: Please bring a drink bottle and hat. There’s plenty of water fillings tations on-site
- Cost: Free thanks to the support of the Department of Chief Minister and the Territory Families (NT Government).
- 8:30-8:50am: Gates open for registrations, safety form/ dress-code checks and safety briefing
- 9:00am: Part 1 of Workshop
- 10:00am: Morning Tea
- 10:20am: Part 2 of Workshop
- 11:20am: Debrief and reflection
- 11:30am: Completion and pick-up

Spaces for our School Holiday Program are limited, so be sure to book early to secure your place.
