The Davidson Brothers

Having performed together for over 20 years, the Davidson Brothers have firmly carved their contemporary acoustic style into the Australian music scene.

Hamish and Lachlan Davidson grew up in the rural Victorian town of Yinnar. Raised in a musical family, the brothers began playing music and performing from a young age. With seven albums under their belt, they have built the reputation of being one of Australia’s hottest bluegrass acts – multi instrumentalists on banjo, fiddle, mandolin and great entertainers who deliver high powered acoustic music at its best.

Australian Country Music Award winners in 2009, 2010 and 2012, Hamish and Lachlan Davidson are “the best young bluegrass pickers we have seen for a long while in Australia and a very exciting live act,” according to Troy Cassar-Daley.

In recent years, the Davidson Brothers have become regulars on many National festivals as well as touring Australia extensively, Europe and the USA. They appeared on the Ryman in Nashville at the 2010 International Bluegrass Music Awards as presenters and showcased at IBMA’s World of Bluegrass in 2004 and 2009 and the 2011 European World of Bluegrass in the Netherlands.

Winner of multiple Australian National Bluegrass Championship titles on fiddle, banjo and mandolin, the Davidson Brothers established the Australian Youth Bluegrass Scholarship in 2011 to encourage excellence and leadership in bluegrass amongst young musicians. They’ve been recognised as finalists in the Most Outstanding Musicians category of the 2010 Melbourne Prize for Music, the Davidson Brothers have also performed on many national television programs including Good Morning Australia.

After recording four albums in the US, Hamish & Lachlan knew it was time to record in their native country with their live band. 2014 saw the release of their album ‘Wanderlust’ featuring ten original tracks recorded in Melbourne, Australia featuring Jacob McGuffie on acoustic guitar and Louis Gill on upright bass. in April 2017 they released their new album ‘All You Need is Music.’

Brad Cox

Relatively new to the music industry, Brad Cox promises to stand the test of time. Songwriting is Brad’s passion and his live performances prove it. With an interpretation of modern American Country, mixed with a slightly more ‘real’ style of songwriting, Brad will impress crowds for a long time to come.

Brad worked in a local stock camp here in the Top End in 2014/15 which is where he realised music was his thing. His debut single ‘Too Drunk To Drive’ was released in April 2017, with the second single ‘Towels’ recently released in July. The new album ‘Brad Cox Drinking Pioneer’ is due out in January 2017. With song titles such as these, one could be forgiven for thinking Brad’s music is more larrikin than serious. Rest-assured, we had the pleasure of watching Brad perform recently at The Finch Cafe in Katherine, and with an amazing vocal range, he certainly did not disappoint.

El Cosgrove

El Cosgrove at Katherine Outback Experience

El Cosgrove is a red-headed, boot-wearing, country singer-songwriter who has drawn greatly upon her upbringing in rural Australia to write unique music which she delivers with “a voice unlike any other in Australian country music” (Jolene: The Country Music Blog). Having released her debut EP ‘Guitars & Cigars’ in January 2017, winning over the hearts of country music loving masses at the ‘Tamworth Country Music Festival’, and being met with rave reviews, AMNplify declares that ‘El Cosgrove’s star is on the rise’ and that ‘it’s clear Cosgrove is going places’.

Leading up to the recording of her debut EP, El had already been surrounded by music since a very early age and after graduating school she travelled to Canada where she was immersed in the rodeo and ranch life of Alberta. Upon returning to Australia she graduated from the Academy of Country Music in Tamworth and went on to continue playing regular concerts and festivals including The Gympie Muster, The Village Festival, Tamworth Country Music Festival, Light the Night Yeppoon just to name a few.

Additionally, El has been privileged to have co-written songs with both Kasey Chambers and Ashleigh Dallas, share the stage with the likes of Catherine Britt, Karl Broadie, Lyn Bowtell, Kevin Bennett, Dobe Newton and Roger Corbett (The Bushwackers) and fellow academy students as well as having the opportunity to work with Amber Lawrence and Aleyce Simmonds. She has also performed as a support artist for Liam Brew and Seleen Mcalister at the Rainforest Ranch near Byfield, as well as Luke O’Shea right here at Katherine Outback Experience.
