Looking for things to do this weekend in the Top End? Look no further than the Katherine Region, Northern Territory!

Mother nature has turned it on this Top End Dry Season with nice cool mornings and evenings, and mild days of around 25 – 30 degrees, perfect for exploring this amazing region! Aside from being the one day of the year you can legally buy fireworks and set them off – there are a number of exciting music events in the Katherine Region this weekend only!

Travis Collins at Katherine Outback Experience

How does an intimate night of live music under the stars with nationally acclaimed music artists Travis Collins and Tom Curtain sound? After an overwhelmingly positive response from the 2016 live music nights under the stars, Katherine Outback Experience is excited to kick-off the first installment for 2017 with country music artist Travis Collins who took home three gongs from the 2017 Tamworth Country Music Golden Guitar Awards for Single of the Year, APRA Song of the Year and Male Artist of the Year.

Guests are welcome to BYO drinks, nibbles, picnic blankets and seating.  Free sausage sizzle while food lasts.

Rates: Adults $25 | Students $15 | Kids U5yr Free.

Sunday 2 July 2017 from 7:00 – 9:00pm at Katherine Outback Experience. Gates open at 6:30pm.

Territory Day Celebrations at the Katherine Showgrounds

 The Katherine community always puts on an amazing show for Territory Day and this year will be no different. From 5:30pm at the Showgrounds there will be food stalls and the performance of Katherine Tales – Tall, Twisted & True. ased on a vaudeville theme, the Tall, Twisted and True stories are told through song, music, comedy and satire. Laugh and sing the night away during this large-scale community event, followed by all-time favourite, the fireworks!

Katherine Showgrounds Gates open 5.30pm. Fireworks from 7.30pm FREE

The Katherine Territory Day celebrations are proudly brought to you by the Northern Territory Government in association with Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts & Culture Centre and Katherine Town Council. No alcohol or personal fireworks permitted.

Located just 2 hours south east of Katherine, set beneath the picturesque red sandstone escarpment, adjacent to the famous Victoria River Roadhouse, is the Costello Yard Campdraft.

With a full calendar events and competitors of all ages from all over the Top End, the event is certain to be an enjoyable weekend for all. Not to mention, one of our favourites, Celeste Clabburn of the Sunny Cowgirls will be taking centre stage on Saturday night with The Wounded Dogs.

Saturday Morning Katherine Community Markets

Open from 8am to 1pm every Saturday, the Katherine Community Markets are a one stop spot for delicious food, coffee, fun for the kids, stalls, and live music and entertainment.

We can’t go past the giant spring rolls and delicious banana smoothy – followed by a coffee from the Black Russian Caravan Bar.
